Ceramic or porcelain tile are a popular selection of flooring as they are very durable and are available in many attractive styles. Tile can withstand high traffic areas and is used mainly in foyer areas, kitchens, hallways and bathrooms. They are easy to clean and always look fresh and new for many years. There are hundreds of colours, styles and sizes available. The appearance of a room is completely changed as the tiles can be installed in a variety of sizes, patterns, and angles.
Wall Tile (kitchen)
Wall tiles are used for a backsplash in a kitchen at a reasonable price. They are available in a multitude of colours and many times a decorative insert is installed to enhance the look.
Wall Tile (bathroom)
Wall tiles are very popular in showers and tub surrounds. There is a huge selection of tile available with inserts and decorative borders and some wall tiles have matching floor tiles. Backsplash tiles can also be used if there is sufficient wall space behind the cabinet.
Unglazed ceramic tile is made from a mixture of clays fired at high temperatures of approximately 2200 degrees. It is durable and easy to maintain. Glazed ceramic tile manufacturing is identical to unglazed except a liquid glass is applied to create a hard, non-porous surface. This tile is easy to clean, and is stain, scratch, slip and fade resistant.
Porcelain unglazed tile is manufactured using a dust-pressed method from porcelain clays creating a dense, impervious, fine grained smooth tile with a sharply formed face. Porcelain tiles are frost resistant with a lower water absorption rate than ceramic tile.
Because this tile is fire-hardened with the colour and pattern manufactured throughout the entire thickness of the tile, they do not show wear, making them suitable for high traffic in residential, commercial, or industrial areas. Porcelain glazed tile is similar to unglazed except their surface is coated.
